Pocatello Police briefs 3/16/2015

POCATELLO – Pocatello Police responded to 226 calls this weekend resulting in several arrests.
Eric Gene Perkins, 28, and Danay Jene Riggs, 21, were arrest and charged with drug possession and theft of a firearm Sunday at about 4:45 p.m.
Pocatello Police Lt. Ian Nelson said the arrests resulted from a traffic stop.
Officers stopped the couple at 3555 Bannock Highway for an equipment violation and discovered drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine, and pharmaceutical drugs.
Perkins and Riggs were also found to be in possession of .380 Sig-Sauer handgun reportedly stolen from West Valley, Utah.
Perkins is charged with one count of possession and delivery of a controlled substance, two counts of possession and delivery of a controlled substance – synthetic and theft of a firearm.
Riggs is charged with two counts of possession delivery of a controlled substance – synthetic and theft of a fire arm.
Both suspects were arraigned in Bannock County Monday.
In a separate incident, Kelsey Oralea McGonigal, 22, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault following a disturbance just before 9 p.m. in the 1500 block of South Third Avenue.
Nelson said witnesses at the scene reported that a female had attempted to use a screwdriver as a stabbing weapon.
Officers confirmed that report and McGonigal was taken into custody.
